Yes. Can they do that? Given that       they paid Ralph McQuarrie and John Dykstra to do those things they do, sure.        (I may be biased as I        wanted more Star Wars on TV!)              On defense put out (in public relations, at least) was that Galactica was in       development long before Star Wars. I can believe that, but that if not for       Star Wars, any TV show we'd have gotten would have been something like the       Space: 1999 or Ark II TV        shows we got.              A preemptive defense would be to at least pretend the project is based on       something pre-existing Star Wars. Star Trek and Flash Gordon are actually       developed from their original stories, given a special effects upgrade. Buck       Rogers, Lensmen, and Shape        of Things to Come are -in that order- Star Wars rips painted in the colors of       another property.              Oh! Two other '70s space operas, from Japan:       Message from Space - if you remember a giant sailing ship in space, this is it              War in Space - (some titles aren't even trying!) a submarine/tan       /spaceship/drilling machine vs. another space sailing ship, a galley, with       oars!              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
