   On the chance that more than one other person is still reading this group.   
      
   Primetime on Turner Classic Movies will bring two supernatural films, "Picnic   
   at Hanging Rock" and "The Last Wave". They will be followed by "The Cars That   
   Ate Paris" which could, I suppose, be called social science fiction, but to me   
   is mainly    
   interesting for showing where "Mad Max" came from. Australia seemingly has a   
   car culture comparable to America's. They'd played "Mad Max" earlier this   
   month (and announced afterwards that it is available on something called   
   "Watch TCM"). Having not    
   seen it in a long time, and having seen "The Cars that Ate Paris" in the   
   meantime, I was struck by different it was from "Mad Max II" ("The Road   
   Warrior").
