You do relaise that Starship Troopers was a book first?? I haven't read
it, but it's possible that the author wrote it that way and the
director of the movie was simply following the original ... although,
judging by Hollyweird's total lack of respect for any original (and its
fans) when making a show / movie "based on" someone else's work, it's
extremely unlikely the director followed the book properly.
