   Well, not a parody of the novel anyway, which Verhoeven allegedly threw   
   at the wall a few pages in and wasn't even aware of when he was working   
   out the concept for the movie.   
      
   Parody of various old "war movies" on the other hand . . .   
      
   It might have been a decent movie if he had called it something else,   
   but as it is I want to believe that there is a special Hell in which   
   Verhoeven spends eternity using his notion of strategy and tactics in a   
   war against a competent enemy.
