not that anyone asked my opinion, but...

I, personally, think that Ep VII liberated and expanded much of its plot from
Ep IV. I also think that Ep VII is markedly better than the previous four
(yes, including ‘Return of the Jedi’) and overall is better than the
first. It trails Ep V, but “Empire Strikes Back” was well above all the
others, so that’s not a surprise. It is perfectly possible for a movie (or
a book, or many other works) to show clearly that it was heavily based on
earlier work and yet be superior to that earlier work. Ep VII is an example
of such a movie. I will be purchasing the blue-ray version of this movie, to
go with the blue-ray version of the original three. (I mostly care about
‘Empire’ and ‘New Hope’.) It may or may not be relevant to note that
I have not purchased either DVD or blue-ray versions of the second trilogy
and have no plans to do so.

I now return to deep lurk mode.
