The studios often watch what each other are doing.       It's probably the same for all entertainment media. I remember there       was some talk a few years back about how all the procedural police       shows were running the same basic storyline. The assumption was that       someone found out what the other show was doing and either       deliberately or inadvertantly copied the idea.              I think something similar happened with Tom Hanks earlier in his       career. If I remember correctly, he played in a film called       Turner and Hooch about a police officer and a canine partner. This       was copied by Jim Belushi in a similar film. Or the Hanks film       copied the Belushi film. Either way, someone probably saw the       film slate of the other studio and thought it was going to       do well, so a copycat film was made. Either that, or some writer was       pitching a lot and the idea got picked up without realizing that       other studios were on to the same thing.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
