From: ScottW48@hotmail.com              Cuz they won't charge at all in the frigid temps.              "Tesla recommends using Trip Planner to navigate to a charging location for at       least 30-45 minutes before arrival to ensure optimal Battery temperature and       charging conditions," the document continues. "If the drive to the charging       location is less than        30-45 minutes, consider preconditioning the Battery before driving."              More importantly.....don't drive your battery so low it doesn't have the       charge left to "precondition". Without it, it won't charge at all.              "Nothing. No juice. Still on zero percent, and this is like three hours being       out here after being out here three hours yesterday," Tesla owner Tyler Beard       told Fox 32.              He wasn't alone. Dozens of cars were reportedly lined up and abandoned at the       Tesla supercharging station in Oak Brook along with multiple charging stations       around Chicago.              Preconditioning also drains the battery. Even looking at Tesla's own "Cold       Weather Best Practices" is like playing 4D chess if you need to take a trip in       the dead of winter.              What a mess. Sounds like the EV industry has a major flaw. They need to       allow the car to warm the battery from charger power. But that means sitting       plugged in to a "supercharger" for 45 min to precondition before the battery       can take any charge.        What's that do to the number of stations required to support cars?               The whole idea of going EV is a trainwreck as the technology simply isn't yet       up to the task assigned.....replacing a gas powered car.              ScottW              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
