   When you pull the speaker, you may be able to find an EIA code on the   
   basket, which might give you a clue.  You might also try measuring a few TS   
   parameters after you refoam one.  Honestly, however, having been in a   
   similar position (a buddy's Pioneer HPM-100s), I've found that a modern   
   reasonably high sensitivity woofer will do just fine, with less expense and   
   frustration.  YMMV.
