From: info@turneraudio.com.au              2013 is an unfortunate year number. Remember 1913? - a terrible lead up to WW1       and countless bloody deaths, so how much longer have we got until shit happens       again?               So, just like there's no stop in some elavators for Floor 13, methinks       positively about 2012A, after which we could move directly to 2014, although       it would then feel like a jolt. Even if you leave out an unlucky year, you       will still feel something went        missing.               Meanwhile, I bury the hatchet on New year's day, as I have to on Christmas day       when some merry discussions around a dinner table ensued.               But this NY day I do investigate the use of humble EL34 in SE pentode mode to       drive a complementary pair of source follower mosfets in class A (of course)       and then there is NFB using 100% of output signal to EL34 screen, to thus make       the EL34 operate        like a triode with gain about 9, but included in the triode strapping of the       EL34 pentode, I have the whole mosfet output stage, so both THD of EL34 in       pentode PLUS output mosfet stage is much reduced. So thus with ONE pentode,       and fitted with CCS using        2SK1924, I have reduced the THD and bettered the bandwidth and increased the       damping factor without using an OPT, and only using 3 devices in what has to       be a simple circuit.        Analysis is underway, a little slowed by this New Years's Day intake of a very       fine shiraz made well by my countrymen in Sth Aust.              I wish all those who dabble in tubes and various ways of coaxing them to give       us pleasure a very fine year.              Patrrick Turner.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
