   Hi all,

Interestingly, somebody who knows a great deal more than I do about
transformers (not hard at all) told me that with certain types of metals and
in certain low current applications, then it is in fact possible. They went
on to explain it in great detail
why, but I'm afraid the explanation was a bit over my head. However, this
person is quite knowledgeable and not prone to saying silly or superstitious
things so I quite believe them.

It was also mentioned that the vast majority of transformers, certainly power
and output transformers would be immune to this effect. But for a handful of
certain types of transformers, it is in fact a possibility.

I am frankly stunned. I thought that the very notion was a pile of malarkey,
but since I found out otherwise, I feel I need to post here and clarify that I
was incorrect in calling bullshit on that website.

So, to the author of that site that I referenced here, you have my full
apology. If you happen to read this, I would love it if you would write up a
more detailed explanation as to why this is possible, I'm afraid at the moment
   it's quite over my head.

   Regards,
