It is doubtful that Ulm was making audio tubes of any nature       in 1987. But, until 1990, such parts would be labeled "West Germany". That is       the "easy" part.        >        > The paper label is a red flag, the plant is another.        >        > Now, getting to the date code: U4100201       >        > U = Ulm.        > 41 = 14th day       > 00 should be the month - so, no month.        > 2 should be the year. In this case, and with this number-style, 1972,       certainly not 1987.        >        > http://www.audiotubes.com/teledate.htm        >        > Peter Wieck       > Melrose Park, PA              I have definitely real Telefunken tubes pulled from Tandberg tape recorders,       they say "Made in Germany", not "Made in West Germany". I wonder if that paper       tag was a government inventory tag, perhaps added in 1987 when the government       bought the tubes        from a distributor? I'm not saying you're wrong, but why would someone fake       such obscure tubes? If they are fakes, what do you think they really are?       Definitely dont' appear used.               What the heck is an EL3010 anyway? Is there a western analog?               --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
