   As a hobbyist, I purchase for personal use, and then only if my stock (~3,500   
   tubes) is low. I go to a former distributor for Sylvania and RCA (both made   
   within 30 miles of where I sit) and by agreement, pay him 50% of the AES   
   price.  He probably has 50,   
   000 or more tubes in his stock, all computerized and stored in a cool, dry   
   place.  He supplies a number of musicians and bands in the region.
