   600 mi round trip would have gotten you to Ft. Worth and back. :)   
      
   1.4 mpg change is not much.  It sounds reasonable to me.   
   There are lots of variables.  Tire tread hardness, tire air pressure,   
   ambient temp, load weight, road surface, engine oil, air filter,   
   alignment, the list goes on and on.
