   they did. I saw the show a few times and if anything, the stuff actually   
   made the plates show up better.   
   the best way to hide the plates is to have a flip plate.   
   anytime you go through a TLC intersection, flip a swith and the plate   
   changes to a temporary tag or one of those specialty gag plates.   
   a minute later it flips back.
