   it's very obvious to anyone who has looked at actual statistics that he   
   is correct.   
      
   speed alone doesn't kill.   
      
   if it did, the autobahn would be a deathtrap.   
      
   what kills is driving too fast for conditions (which is not the same),   
   driver inattention, impaired driving and many other factors.   
      
   in fact, statistics show (nhtsa, go look it up) that higher speeds are   
   actually safer in most cases.   
      
   most accidents occur at slower speeds and on surface streets, often due   
   to red light runners, not looking when pulling out into traffic, etc.   
      
   highways, where speeds are the highest, are the safest roads out there.
