   That seems a bit backwards. Here in New Zealand the Drivers License is   
   valid for 10 years (then you have to pass an eye-sight test to renew   
   it) until a senior citizen age which I can't remember, and then the   
   renewal become more frequent (which from memory at some stage also   
   includes re-sitting the practical driving test with an examiner).   
      
   Of course in ye olde days the Drivers License was valid for life.
