   Excessive stop signs waste fuel and slow traffic flow. There are other   
   traffic calming devices that are more effective but they are much more   
   expensive to put in   
   .   
      
   Stop signs are often used on long, straight, two-lane, roads to control   
   speed. Where Liam is talking about would be more appropriate for some   
   other type of traffic calming.
