I have no problem with getting out of the way of faster traffic. What I
have a problem with is drivers being complete dick wads and driving
dangerously - those are two separate issues, and yet some individuals
here seem to be unable or unwilling to treat them as such.

So what if you are already in the right lane, and all traffic around you
is going the same speed as you, except for the one car that just pulled
into the area from behind everyone else doing 15mph faster than everyone
else and he gets on your ass? Do you then pull off the shoulder and stop
so he can get by? Sorry, but no, I'm not doing that just so Mr. Man can
   have the road to himself.

What if you are in the middle lane, and the left lane is full of cars
going faster, but some dumb ass decides he wants to push the cars in the
middle lane to go even faster by tailgating them? Should all of the cars
in the middle lane get into the right lane one by one as he tailgates
them or finally figures out he should wait for an opening in the left
lane instead of being a complete asshole?

The point is this is not a black and white issue, and there needs to be
at least a small amount of sharing and courtesy on the road.
