I'm highly skeptical of the engineering behind roads. It's all about milking
the cow without slaughtering it. At one point many people will have to live
without the car because of so many tolls and predatory red light cameras. That
   is good in itself
except that people don't have an option.

The first thing the have to do is enforce speed limits and not simply put
signs to give the illusion that they care. I think the technology is out there
to stop your car from going faster than the indicated limit. Why not? I guess
   many drivers would be
   mad.

Same technology exists to immobilize cars from being driven by drunk drivers.
I would welcome prevention over random enforcement.
