   I understand that it is generally safer to hit an animal (well, maybe   
   not a LARGE animal like a moose) than to swerve to avoid it, especially   
   when you aren't sure what's beside or behind you.  This would certainly   
   include ducklings.  I'd feel bad about it, but I wouldn't either stop or   
   swerve on a highway.  Residential neighborhood, maybe.
