It's only       in the suburbs where public transportation struggles. The sprawl was built       around the car and there lies the problem. But now we are talking about       solutions, right?       > >       > > >       > > > People in Norway and the Netherlands pay their fair share for gas, that       > > > is twice as much as you do.       > >       > > And where have I said I'd object to paying that much?       >       > Sure but first we need to take care of corruption. No matter how much money       you throw into the system, it will find its way into the black hole of       corruption.              Firstly we need something like "SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING" brought to watch       corruption. Bike facilities themselves are a target of corruption. You see       something on a Google map marked "bike friendly" and I would not dare ride on       those roads.              Drivers are the sacred cows, perhaps because they are being a milked. Last       candidate to propose raising the tax on gasoline was Ross Perot and look how       quickly he was attacked by the press. No president will dare rise the tax.              We cyclists and pedestrians are worth nothing because we contribute nothing.       Our sidewalks were abandoned a long time ago. Let the senior citizens pay for       them. Nothing free in the land of the free.              How much you want me to pay to get a damn license to ride a bike?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
