From: larry_scholnick@yahoo.com              I recently spent a weekend in San Jose, CA (I live in the Los Angeles area);       we stayed at the Hampton Inn (Old Tully Road at Monterey Street, near the       Santa Clara County Fairgrounds.              We wanted to join friends for dinner at Henry's Hi-Life, at 301 W. St. John       Street (just west of CA-87 between Santa Clara & Julian).              When I asked Google Maps for directions it did two unusual things, one near       the beginning of the trip and one near the end of the trip.              Instead of driving the short distance west on Old Tully Road to Monterey,       turning right on Monterey, and then turning left on Curtner to reach the CA-87       freeway, I was directed to backtrack to the east on Old Tully Road, then turn       left on (non-old) Tully        Road to reach Curtner and NB CA-87.              When I tried to force Google Maps to use Monterey, rather than turn right on       Monterey, it turned left, U-turned 0.6 mile later at the next break in the       center divider and eventually went north on Monterey to Curtner and NB CA-87.              Near the end of the drive, rather than exiting CA-87 at Santa Clara, turning       left, and then turning right on Autumn, and then turning right on St. John,       Google Maps directed me to stay on CA-87 for one extra exit (to Julian), exit       at Julian, turn left on        Julian, and then turn left on Almaden Blvd to reach St. John.              When I tried to force Google Maps to use Santa Clara and Autumn, rather than       turn right on Autumn, it went one block beyond, U-turned, and then turned left       on Autumn.              It's as though Google Maps believed that it wasn't legal to turn right from WB       Old Tully Road to Monterey Street, and that it wasn't legal to turn right from       WB Santa Clara Street to Autumn Street.              I have (of course) reported these issues to Google, but they have not yet       fixed the problems.              Looking at the bigger picture, is there any way that Google can locate (and       correct) all of these places where their system erroneously believes that       there is a No Right Turn sign? Or are they stuck patching such problems one       by one as they are reported?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
