From: thetibetanmonkey@gmail.com              "O'reilly and his co-author tie the reigns of Julius Caesar and the subsequent       Roman emperors and the dynasty of Herod together very well and one can       appreciate that O'Reilly would have compared the heavy taxation of the Jews by       the Romans to modern        American taxation."              I don't know what O'Reilly could have said on Jesus AND taxation, but there's       something funny about Jesus telling people to pay taxes to the oppressor. That       must have sounded like music to Roman ears. I say in my manifesto NOT to feed       the lion that's        eating you.              Is O'Reilly making the same point or he just want to tell Americans what they       want to hear? Many people say what you want to hear to sell something. I've       found many books meet that criteria.              One issue with taxation is whether is high or low, another is what do they do       with it. Does it go down the hole of corruption? Does it go toward war? Does       it go to people who can work? You know what I'd do? I would make people who       receive a check do some        work for the community, whether they are mentally disabled or not. Stop those       churches feeding the homeless. Discourage charity. Make people take care of       the litter and other stuff communities need. I'd also take away their drivers       license. Too many        drivers on the road. Too few cyclists and pedestrians. Make people proud and       strong.              Are these ideas left or right? Anyway you can tell us how Jesus and taxation       are connected. How did he make a living anyway? How would he make a living       today? Get a check from social security? That's alright. Do something for your       community. He was a        carpenter, right? He could be making wooden benches for bus stops. We need       trees planted too. Anyone can do that.              The problem with Jesus he never gave us good ideas. Nothing practical to live.       He's telling us to wait for his second coming and everybody is paralyzed.       That's what the people in power want. Don't tell them Jesus would be riding a       bicycle now because he        couldn't afford gas and insurance. That's too smart.              Jesus was crazy or lazy.
