XPost: alabama.politics, sac.politics, talk.politics.guns       XPost: soc.culture.african.american       From: another.nigger.incident@hillaryclinton.com              MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -       A Montgomery woman is recovering after a horrifying ordeal that       ended with her crashing on the side of the interstate with       gunshot wounds as she fled in fear from a gunman.              Alicia Martin was shot several times Monday and remains in the       hospital as police continue their investigation into the       incident.              Her son, Gavin Martin, says his mother makes deliveries to local       stores and when she gets done with work, she often drives around       different Montgomery neighborhoods to pray.              “My mother is a strong believer in God, and she usually rides       around bad neighborhoods to pray just in general,” he said.              On Monday afternoon, she decided to stop on Crescent Road in the       Ridgecrest neighborhood on the city’s west side. A stranger       walked up to her car and started talking to her.              As background, Gavin says his 16-year-old brother “got into it       with a few people." He believes the tension made his family       members targets.              When the man asked Alicia if she was the teen’s mother, she said       yes.              “Then this dude that's standing at her car just decides to start       shooting into her window at her,” Gavin said.              In the barrage of bullets, she put her arm up in a defensive       move to protect her head and face and tried to get her car       turned on to get away. She was struck in the forearm, shattering       the bones in her arm.              She pulled out of Crescent Road and made her way onto the nearby       ramp for the interstate. Her son says she was trying to get to       the hospital with her injured arm, but quickly realized she was       not out of harm’s way.              “These dudes who shot at my mother decided to hop in the car and       chase her down. She was already shot and it was raining during a       bad storm,” Gavin said. “Picture my mom running away from men       who she didn't even know who decided to shoot at her over the       spite of a young boy.”              He's is not sure how many people were in the car that was       following his mother, and endangering many other people on the       interstate.              Alicia’s back windshield was shot out and she was hit in the       thumb, shoulder and back in the chase, in addition to her       forearm wounds. Relatives say she was so scared, she ultimately       laid down to avoid being shot again, losing control of her car       on Interstate 85 North.              She struck two other cars and a guardrail before running off the       roadway. No other drivers were injured, and Alicia Martin was       rushed to the hospital.              The mother of three had surgery on her arm, and remains in a       great deal of pain from her injuries. She is worried about her       family’s safety, according to her children. They're outraged       someone came after her in such a vicious way, but they're       relieved she was able to escape with her life. They ask anyone       with information to come forward.              “Just the fact that these people wanted my mother dead, it's       horrible,” Gavin said. “It was heartbreaking to see my mother on       that table with all those tubes through her and to know that       somebody did that to her. You would never guess in a million       years that anything like this would ever happen to your mother.       It's hard for us and we just want the person to be locked up.”              Betty Brown owns the home on the corner of Crescent Road and       Edgemont Avenue. Her son and daughter-in-law live there, but       Brown has been visiting from Florida. She was upset when she       heard about the shooting involving Alicia Martin.              “I was here when they were doing all of that shooting the other       night. A few days before that, a house across the street got       shot, had the windows shot out,” she said. “They shoot like       crazy down Crescent and all around here. I'm concerned because       there's so much violence on this street and so much drugs down       in that area. I'm very worried.”              Gavin Brown says that’s why his mother went to that neighborhood       when she got finished with work on Monday.              “That's one of the reasons she was over here praying,” he said.       “She could have been killed.”              A spokesperson for the Montgomery Department of Public Safety       indicated that MPD’s investigation “is continuing.” No other       details have been released and no arrests have been made.              http://www.tucsonnewsnow.com/story/31718196/mom-of-3-in-hospital-       after-being-shot-multiple-times-in-attack-chase              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
