XPost: comp.mobile.android, alt.society.liberalism, alt.society.modern-life       XPost: alt.activism.death-penalty, sac.politics, tx.general       From: Valeska.NowakKowalczyk@ts2.pl              4/2/2017 3:19:00 PM              > A witness says the driver of a pickup truck that collided with a       > church minibus in rural Texas, killing 13 people, acknowledged he had been       > texting while driving              The article is meaningless irrisonsible clickbait.              All the idiots in the world believe cellphone use while driving causes       accidents but there isn't a single shred of scientific evidence in the real       world that shows any increase in accident rates in the United States in the       past dozen years.              In fact, the accident rate has been steadily on the decline, and continues       on the decline in a steady progression that has been going on for decades.              Only non scientific brain dead idiots would believe the title of that       story, which is fine for click bait but it's not science.              Not one scientist on the planet has found any correlation whatsoever       between the accident rate in the USA and cellphone use while driving.              And they've looked.       They've looked hard.              The evidence for an increase in accident rates doesn't exist.              While everyone just *assumes* that cellphone use while driving *causes*       accidents, everyone also assumes that you get a cold simply by being cold.              Everyone also assumes that high-octane rated gasoline is "better" gasoline,       in and of itself, than lower-octane rated fuel.              Some white people assume black people are intellectually inferior.       Lot's of people assume Asians can't drive.       Or that the Irish are all drunkards.              The fact is that some Irish people are drunkards, but most are not.       Some Asians can't drive, but most can.       Some black people are of low intelligence but most aren't.              And some people will have accidents, no matter what.       There are a billion distractions. Pick one. They'll be distracted.       The cellphone isn't the problem.              If it was, someone here could point to a real study of real accident rates       in the USA showing the slightest increase over the past decade (not all       those manufactured studies which predict huge numbers of accidents that       don't exist).              The number of morons out there is astounding, and the write of that article       was one of them (or, he/she just wanted to write some catchy clickbait).              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
