XPost: alt.stupidity, alt.society.liberalism, sac.politics       XPost: alt.fan.rush-limbaugh, talk.politics.guns       From: noreply@mixmin.net              MERCED COUNTY, California (KSEE) — Despite being sentenced for more than       six years, Obdulia Sanchez would serve less than half of that before       being released on parole. Our legal analyst said it’s pretty unheard of       to get such an early release, especially given the crimes she was       convicted of.              The last time we saw Obdulia Sanchez make headlines was on Feb. 8, 2018:       the day she was sentenced to prison.              “I don’t want to go to prison, but I deserve whatever punishment I       receive,” Sanchez read from a letter she wrote during her sentencing       hearing. “She didn’t deserve to die the way she did. It should have been       me.”              She was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI and child       endangerment after live-streaming the crash that killed her 14-year-old       sister Jacqueline back in 2017.              The livestream feed showed Sanchez behind the wheel and the moment she       veered off the road near Los Banos and flipped her car. Her sister and       her sister’s friend were ejected.              Sanchez would only serve a little more than a year of her sentence       before being granted parole. A spokesman with the California Department       of Corrections and Rehabilitation said she was released on Sept. 21 and       completed several rehabilitative programs.              Legal analyst David Mugridge said Sanchez must have had stellar behavior       in those programs.              “Number one, she would’ve had to have no violations, or very few       violations,” Mugridge said. “Certainly no significant violations when       she’s in the prison.”              During her court hearings, Sanchez’s family was vocal in their desire to       keep her out of prison. Mugridge adds their input to the parole board       likely played a big part in her release.              “It had to have been that the district attorney didn’t oppose, or didn’t       oppose very strongly, her release,” he said. “Also, that her family       certainly must have had a lot to do with this.”              We did reach out to Sanchez’s family to see if anyone would like to talk       about her release. They declined to talk.              https://www.yourcentralvalley.com/news/local-news/obdulia-sanchezs-parole       -release-indicative-of-good-behavior-behind-bars-legal-analyst-says/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
