   RACISTS defended slavery, RACISTS started the Civil War, RACISTS started the

   The RACISTS were comfortable in the Democratic Party through the Wilson   
   Administration.  But the RACISTS didn't much care for Franklin and Elinor   
   Roosevelt.  The didn't like Harry Truman and they HATED LBJ.   
      
   The fact that the RACISTS were getting uncomfortable in the Democratic party   
   was not lost on the Republicans.  Barry Goldwater, a long time Republican   
   supporter of civil rights, voted against the Civil Rights act of 1964, in the   
   same year he was running    
   for President.  Goldwater later admitted that failing to support civil rights   
   in 64 was one of his great regrets.   
      
   The Nixon and Reagan Presidential campaigns had parts which were directly   
   intended to attract the RACIST vote.

   It's a bit unfair to call the Republican strategy to attract the RACIST vote   
   the Southern Strategy, that strategy appealed to RACISTS all across the US.    
   However, flipping the RACIST vote from the Democrats to the Republicans was   
   enough to flip the old    
   Confederacy to the Republicans.
