This will give you better receive performance which may,       or may not, matter to your application.       2) The balun/unun will provide a dc ground path for the antenna. This       can prevent/reduce static buildup on the antenna. Your post is unclear       if you are really doing a beverage (which is terminated at both ends) or       a random wire antenna (which is not terminated at the far end).
