   You'd probably want a 4:1 if you were going to put up a folded dipole.   
      
   If you're using an ordinary two-wire dipole, a choke balun will serve   
   you just fine for receiving, and if you shop around you can buy the   
   necessary ferrites for $5 or so (or salvage some tubular ferrites from   
   old PC-to-monitor VGA cables that are headed for the recycler). I   
   don't think there'd be any benefit to buying a fancy commercial 1:1   
   model that costs you 10 or 20 times as much.
