For everyone that applies,       something has to be found out about the applicant in order for the       'vetting' processes to determine whether or not they met the criteria of       'known' 'trouble' and 'maker' - all the terms being publicly undefined,       of course, so they can be as elastic as necessary.              What information is sought? From what sources? What procedures are       carried out to verify such information?              What is done with that information: is it stored, or communicated, for       example?              ISTM that the processes of collection, processing and storage of this       information could be queried for their lawfulness. 'Vetting' for       'perverts', as the person quoted above has referred to many times, is       surely going to carry particular legal risks for the group management,       and one wonders if the RSGB, the name and logo of which are carried by       the group, are comfortable with this - or even know about it.                     --       Spike              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
