   That sentiment sends a shiver down my spine because amateur radio   
   is a privileged pursuit for those appropriately technically   
   motivated.   
      
   It is not CB radio, nor PMR446.   
      
   Reading between the lines (yeah, only one line :-)  ) this once again   
   appears to be "we must get more bums on seats", a sadly mistaken   
   philosphy, because the number of licensees today far exceeds those that   
   were the norm in the 1950s and 1960s.
