   He was dead against it. Perhaps conveniently shoved aside as, after   
   all, his protestations had no effect whatsoever.   
      
   Now, it appears that he's conveniently forgotten that era and now is a   
   fully fledged supporter of the RSGB again, probably because he thinks   
   it might score him points in a usenet argument.   
      
   Personally, I feel that the RSGB is finished and will not survive for   
   more than a few years.   
      
   This hasn't been helped by lax oversight by the directors including   
   Brian Reay which led to to the Peter Kirby debacle and serious   
   financial problems for the 'society', as well as the member fallout   
   that ensued.   
      
   To add to that, I consider the FL scheme was the start of the problems   
   as a lot of members didn't like the 'CBisitation' of amateur   
   licences and voted with their feet.   
      
   The RSGB was on rocky ground after this and management catastrophes   
   haven't help one iota.   
      
   No wonder why no prospective 'Presidents' have added their name. No   
   one wants this prestigious position. That must, surely, tell them   
   something.
