   A fair and valid point - I’m sure those purely interested in the theory   
   side of amateur radio would concur. As you highlight, the world has   
   changed, and getting a full licence now requires candidates to demonstrate   
   a level of practical compentancy as well as a solid understanding of the   
   theory.
