   I don’t see why it should. Yes, FL is pretty basic it’s short, and the   
   first step to Full. Full still requires candidates to have the same level   
   of theoretical knowledge (and more) than under RAE. Would having to   
   demonstrate the ability to solder safely, calibrate a VFO correctly, or   
   tune a dipole really put an academic off?
