From: dxcoffee@bbs.alt119.net.remove-pm1-this              8 October 2016              Gordon K7TRB informs DxCoffee readers:              "I';ve been slow to get started in Lesotho.  Mainly it has taken me some time       to get my antennas up at a reasonable height.  I just have a 20 - 10 meter       cob web antenna and a 40 meter dipole.              I started just out doing JT65 since my signal was so poor.  With my antenna       now at 8 meters I';m getting out a lot better and I';ve worked a couple 20       meter SSB pile ups.  My hearing is going bad so I don';t do a very good job       with the SSB pileups.  I'       m still working JT65 and will start PSK31 soon.              Cob web antenna in temp location for testing and tuning.       Original cob web location. To low, to close to metal roof.       My little Kenwood TS-480 SAT station       Rounding up some tubing to construct an antenna mast from ZS4AZ. I worked the       Africa DX contest for a bit and met Thanie who is in Ladybrand SA near Maseru.              ÿ       Antenna mast in its current configuration              I';m surprised to find the 7P call generates a mini pile up with ZS callers       since there has been a lot of major DXpeditions through Lesotho.  I operated       as 3C1TR in 1993 when my ears were younger and as 9X0VA in 2014 when ten       meters was very active.  I'       d like to have the time and resources to put up a better antenna but it is       just me and no DXpedition team with financing who has to keep his day job!              73,"              Gordon 7P8VA              ***************************************              23 August 2016              Gordon K7TRB announcement:              "I';ll be in Maseru, Lesotho September and October 2016.        I plan to operate 50% SSB and 50% PSK 31 and experiment with other digital       modes.              QSL via home call."              source: QRZ.com              http://www.dxcoffee.com/eng/2016/7p8va-lesotho/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
