   The NZART has been contacted by an overseas operator organizing an   
   event to celebrate the 80 year anniversary since the surrender of   
   Germany during WWII.   
      
   NZART is willing to arrange ZL80MAY as a special callsign. However   
   they are calling for an NZ operator to help coordinate the activity   
   on New Zealand's side.

   until the 10th of November to commemorate the 80th anniversary   
   of the liberation of southern Netherlands in the autumn of 1944.

   special event stations K4M and K4Y.   
      
   K4M recognizes the Battle of Kings Mountain, a significant conflict   
   during the American Revolutionary War. K4Y recognizes the Battle of   
   Yorktown.

   NEW ZEALAND - Wireless and Wool ZM 100 DX   
   Celebrating Historic 100 Year Trans World Radio Contact   
      
   This contact was by Morse and was the first ever, trans-world two-way   
   radio communication of any type. It was from Shag Valley Station,   
   Otago and the contact was with Cecil Goyder G2SZ at Mill Hill School,   
   London.   
      
   ZM100DX as well as ZL4AA  will be on air on site in Shag Valley Sheep   
   Station.   
      
   The main planned contact is between Shag Valley sheep Station and   
   Mill Hill School 18th October and other celebration events are   
   planned for the following day or two.   
      
   NZART Branch 30 sincerely invites all amateurs to take part in this   
   celebration and join in marking the 100th year since the original   
   QSO.

   OL 80 C.A.R.B.O.N. is active until the 30th of November to mark the   
   80th anniversary of Operation Carbon during World War Two. This   
   operation involved the dropping of paratroopers in the Protectorate of   
   Bohemia and Moravia.   
      
   The Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was a partially-annexed   
   territory of Nazi Germany that was established in 1939 after the   
   German occupation of the Czech lands   
      
   A team of operators is active using call OL 80 CARBON on CW, SSB and   
   digital modes on the HF bands.

   NZART has a special event call sign for the upcoming America's Cup to   
   be held in Spain later this year. ZL 6 AMCUP has been allocated to   
   celebrate this event with Phil Garside ZL2RO as the trustee of the   
   callsign. November 30 is when ZLCAMCUP goes off air.

   In the World of DX, be listening for members of the Zurich City   
   Police Radio Amateur Club throughout the year, operating as HB 2 SP   
   the club is marking its 20th anniversary. Unfortunately no Bureau   
   QSL's but you can use Logbook Of The World, and HB20SP runs until

   We have some great news. The Florio Link repeater system is up and   
   running last Sunday members of SCARC with Brian VK5VI went up to our   
   Willunga Hill site and installed the linked repeater system which is   
   now linked to Victor Harbour. The Wilunga  site is 146.675 and   
   Victor Harbour is 438.525.   
      
   You will need a sub tone of 91.5 to access this repeater system   
   Would like to think Brian VK5VI, Jeff Farmer VK5GF and Dean VK5HMV   
   for his support and guidance for this project.   
      
   On 24 October SCARC will meet at its new clubrooms at Hastings Street   
   Seaford from 6:30 pm. All is welcome. We hope to see you there.

   VKFF reference during that period.   
      
   VKFF qualification, (a minimum 10 QSOs) is required for a valid park   
   activation and endorsements of bronze, silver, & gold stars will also   
   be awarded.

   VOTA (Volcanoes on the Air) erupts!   
      
   Volcanoes on the Air is a new awards program for activating and   
   chasing the 53 volcanoes in the Auckland Volcanic Field.   
      
   The program started several weeks ago and radio amateurs have already   
   activated volcanoes.   
      
   The official launch of the program will be Sunday November 3 provided   
   the weather is suitable and radio amateurs living in Auckland are   
   encouraged to activate volcanoes, many of which require little walking   
   uphill.   
      
   Radio amateurs are encouraged to chase volcano activators.   
      
   The website ontheair.nz has the essential information for each of the   
   53 volcanoes.
