Yes folks, the truth       is out there, doing its job already, day after day.                     Dont forget, theres always much more in every edition of Amateur Radio       magazine.                     More guts. Less gab. Serving Australian amateurs since 1933. Proudly produced       and printed in Australia.                     Im Roger Harrison VK2ZRH for WIA National News.              AUSTRALIANA              At least two funds caught up.              Australian superannuation funds have been hit by attackers using stolen       credentials to access members' accounts.              AustralianSuper said that up to 600 of its members were impacted by the       incident, while Rest Super said that less than one percent of its members       were impacted. Other funds were also reportedly caught up in the attack, but       iTnews, our source for this item. has not yet verified this.       Rests chief executive Vicki Doyle said in a statement that unauthorised       activity was detected on its member access portal over the weekend of       29-30 March. We responded immediately by shutting down the member access       portal, undertaking investigations and launching our cyber security incident       response protocols, Vicki Doyle said.              AustralianSuper urged members to log into their accounts to check that       their bank account and contact details are correct and make sure they have       a strong and unique password that is not used for other sites. It also said       it had been working with the Australian Signals Directorate,       the National Office of Cyber Security, regulators and other authorities       since the unauthorised access was detected.              (itnews.com/txt only)       ------------------------------------------------------------*       INTERNATIONAL NEWS is with thanks to Amateur Radio Daily, ARRL, DX-WORLD,       eHam, Hackaday, IARU, ICQPodcast, IRTS, NEWSLINE, NZART, RAC,       Radioworld.com, RSGB, SARL and the World Wide sources of the WIA.       World Amateur Radio Day              World Amateur Radio Day occurs on April 18th, 2025. It was on this day in       1925 that the International Amateur Radio Union was formed in Paris. This       year is therefore a special 100th anniversary of the International Amateur       Radio Union. Since 1925, the IARU has grown to include 160 member-societies       in three regions across the world.                     Shortly afterwards, another notable event will take place. On April 26th, the       legacy of Marconi is celebrated during International Marconi Day. This is       held annually on the Saturday closest to April 25th which is his birth date.       A 24-hour event will take place where operators are encouraged to get on the       air and for SWLs to listen out for stations.              The ARRL DXCC Desk has determined that the operation by a DXpedition team       from Mount Athos meets the DXCC award programs accreditation criteria.       Contacts with the team, which operated in January 2025 using the call sign       SV1GA/A, will therefore count toward DXCC. Additionally, due to actions taken       by local authorities that resulted in the early termination of the operation,       any future operations by this team from Mt. Athos will require additional       documentation for securing accreditation for DXCC credit.                     Mount Athos is an autonomous region of northeastern Greece, governed by the       monastic community, and is an entity on the DXCC List.              300 Comments Submitted in response to In Re Delete, Delete, Delete.              RadioWorld reports close to 300 comments filed in response to the recent       FCC Public Notice, In Re: Delete Delete Delete. Responses related to amateur       radio vary from keeping the status quo to eliminating amateur radio       licensing completely.              A number of the comments received so far have focused on amateur radio and       the fear that ham radio could be at risk. The possible loss of spectrum is       among the concerns.              Read the RadioWorld article for a sampling of comments.       tinyurl.com/4pv3tmfm              Reply comments will be accepted until April 28th.              Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared without a trace over a decade ago.       Malaysias government announced last week that it will resume its search       efforts for the missing airliner. Maritime robotics company Ocean Infinity       signed an 18-month deal to lead the effort and will receive $70 million if       they can find the aircraft. The search will utilize low-power transmissions       to trace potential flight paths MH370 could have taken in 2014.                     Ocean Infinity will be using WSPR.              The methodology uses low-power transmissions, ubiquitous with ham radio, to       parse out a flight path like following breadcrumbs. Imagine radio waves       radiating out over the ocean like beams of light between their origins and       destinations. If a large plane crosses a beam, it creates a disturbance that       can be recorded. With enough WSPR data from the day MH370 disappeared,       investigators could estimate an approximate flight path.                     Read more MSN: bit.ly/4ccnWtB              Attention all hams around the world!!!              Battle Harbour, a small island located in Labrador, needs our help!              For once, you don't need to open your wallet!              A symbol of wireless history and strength, the Battle Harbour Marconi Towers       have been linking communities for nearly a century. Now, they need our vote       to continue standing strong for future generations!                     The National Trust for Canada's Next Great Save competition gives communities       the power to protect heritage sites, with a $50,000 Grand Prize sponsored by       Ecclesiastical.                     These towers connect modern radio amateurs to the pioneers who helped shape       the hobby and technology. Just as modern radio amateurs continue to push the       boundaries of communication, preserving these towers can inspire future       innovations. These structures serve as a reminder of how far weve come and       how innovation in the radio world has progressed. More than 15,000 education professionals from around the       world were in attendance. ARRL had a booth in the exhibit hall to promote the       ARRL Teachers Institute on Wireless Technology.                     Goodgame spoke to several hundred highly qualified and interested teachers       about ways to elevate their STEM curriculum using radio. Additionally,       several state and district level officials expressed interest in hosting a       session of Teachers Institute.                     The first components of the new ARRL STEM Curriculum were also unveiled and       shared with teachers. Teachers were excited to have access to a curriculum       utilizing electronics and amateur radio that was aligned to national       education standards.
