[continued from previous message]              WW SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS --- RESCUE RADIO              On a significant day for communication enthusiasts, a seminar focusing on the       pivotal role of amateur or ham radio during natural disasters was held at the       Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commissions (BTRC) office.                     More than a hundred amateur radio operators from across the country gathered       to discuss and demonstrate the capabilities of ham radio.                     Representatives from the Amateur Radio Society of Bangladesh (ARSB) addressed       various challenges faced by operators. They sought assistance in integrating       amateur radio into disaster protocols, resolving customs issues related to       importing receivers, simplifying online licensing, and receiving formal       recognition as first responders from government agencies. They also called       for the provision of club call signs and the establishment of a nationwide       repeater network.                     Amateur radio activities in Bangladesh date back to 1979, gaining       institutional recognition after the 1991 cyclone. To date, 813 individuals       have received call signs through the Amateur Radio License Examination       conducted by BTRC. The process of issuing licenses and call signs to 365       candidates who passed the 2025 examination is ongoing.              (QRZ)              WW SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS --- SOFTWARE FOR HAMS              RigPi 4, a comprehensive remote station manager for the Raspberry Pi 3 or       4, has been released as a free download.              RigPi provides a browser-based interface for rig and rotor control,       CW keying, logging, DX spot management, a radio and event scheduler       for group or club users, plus much more. Local news follows National       news in all states. It would be great if those SWL's would       email their reception reports and location to       callbacks@wia.org.au              Not only but also those watching us on YouTube, leave a comment , access       is just below the picture on screen and again tell us where and maybe       even the day and time you are listening       Submitting news items              If you would like to submit news items for possible inclusion       in the VK1WIA broadcasts, please email your item in text to       nationalnews@wia.org.au and don't JUST send url's links or       posters, but take the time to pen YOUR contribution.              To submit audio, email nationalnews@wia.org.au       and send BOTH the audio and the text              We would appreciate items certainly no longer than 1.5 mts in       length as we only have a half hour.              Remember the sooner you submit material the more the       likelihood of it being broadcast in the very next edition of       WIA National News.              Each recorded item will only be broadcast once, if you want a couple       of mentions, please submit different slants to keep your       event 'fresh' and always if the news room is to read your       item --- write it in the 3rd person. (First if YOU are       reading your own item). If you are mentioning your own name / call       in the story, say something like "and myself, Pat, vk11abc"              Promote your local rebroadcast; details on       wia.org.au/members/broadcast/contribute/              A reminder when supplying HamFest info we obviously can't       plug DEALS from commercial traders "on air", but we at the       WIA will put your supporters 'goods' in this text edition       "no worries."              We will not give blatant 'plugs' to raffles, be it raffles       at the event or "on-line".              ------------------------------------------------------------*              Oh... and to contact us with your news because       If It Matters To You It Matters To Us!       Click the links below to download the most recent edition of       National News, BUT this is ONLY the backup site!              WIANEWS backup thanks to Brendan VK4BLP can be found on       wiaq.org.au              BACKUPS OF THE BACKUP!! thanks to Tony VK7AX       www.vk7ax.id.au/wianews/              wia.org.au/members/broadcast/wianews/ (This is the link              [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
