Try installing 98-101D and then Y2KA2 and see if it will execute.

Past versions of Renegade may not run correctly unless the system date/time is
set wayyy back.

RENEGADE.DAT missing means the configuration cannot be loaded, or the system 
cannot run (missing modem, date/time problem etc).

What happens when you run with the -L switch?
