I don't have his email address anymore, sorry.

Over the weekend I will try this under DOSBOX and see if it does the same 
thing.

If it does not, then the problem is in the way that Renegade handles
directory-lookups which I suspect is via DOS interrupt calls... I did not look
at the source code; just was curious if Lee fixed this already.
