   I think that if kids can't actuallly do basic math, they will shy away   
   from actual electronic design courses, and head towards CE/CS, because   
   programming is qualitative. You mostly just type.   
      
   I see coders - python, c, vhdl - who know the languages but have   
   difficulty understanding how to write code to actually do real-world   
   things, like scaling ADC data to engineering units, or filtering, or   
   making control loops.
