You may be thinking of Windscale

   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windscale_fire

The graphite moderator accumulated Wigner energy which had to be
annealed out, and one annealing cycle went too far, igniting the graphite.

Chernobyl was also graphite moderated reactor, and the graphite did
eventually catch fire, but it was more of a secondary effect of an
"uncontrolled nuclear chain reaction, leading to a steam and hydrogen
explosion, large fire, and subsequent core meltdown."
