   I went to his series of Christmas Lectures at the Royal Institution   
   which was very interesting.  The demonstration of an electromagnetic gun   
   could have had an unfortunate outcome for the audience member sitting   
   behind the target.  The steel and copper bolt penetrated much deeper   
   into the 2" thick blockboard target than had been expected and almost   
   came out of the other side.  This was not obvious from the views that   
   were broadcast.
