Our main lab which was very new at the time had magnetically held open
fire doors at intervals all along the main corridors. When there was a
real fire or a fire alarm test they would close almost in sequence end
to end. One of my friends was an unintended casualty hit from behind by
a big heavy fire door whilst watching the one in front of him close.

Think the opening sequence corridor of "Get Smart" from the 1960's.
Our fire doors were like the first set he meets.
