It will benefit weeds more than the crops we carefully selected to grow
well in the climate we had from the end of the last ice age to the start
   of the industrial revolution.

The political-economic stupidity is being exhibited by the fossil fuel
industry, who think that by lying they can deal with the progressively
increasing damage being done to the planet and the economy by rising
global CO2 levels and the consequent global warming (which isn't small).

There's nothing neurotic about worrying about that. Ignoring it is
psychopathic - and in the fossil fuel industry it's criminal
   irresponsibility.
