   He would have had to sail all the way around South America to exploit   
   it, and the people who eventually did lost a lot of their crews to   
   scurvy by the time they had made it across the Pacific.   
      
   I suspect that E. Laureti is even deeper into self-delusion than   
   Columbus was, which may save a few lives. If you can't get off the   
   ground in the first place, you are unlikely to kill most of your crew.
