   Small and cheap are good. Especially small.   
      
   And I can lowpass filter 64 MHz easier than 100 KHz.   
      
   ICs, especially TI ICs, are taking over formerly discete, big,   
   expensive functions. Micromirrors, BAW, magnetics, GaN. Fun stuff.
