   Human stupidity is the main problem, and Cursitor Doom does exemplify   
   that. Stupid people do take up all sorts of silly ideas, and often kill   
   people for absurd reasons. Education does make people less likely to   
   fall for stupid ideas, but if you feed enough indoctrination into the   
   education  process it becomes less effective.
