   It had both! 3 propellers, the port and starboard powered by triple   
   expansion steam engines, and then the exhaust from those fed a turbine   
   to power the center propeller at higher speeds. Port and starboard   
   engines only for maneuvering as the turbine couldn't go in reverse.
