   Change the battery in the remote - again.  I have seen any number of the   
   Chinese-source batteries be defective from the start. If that does not work   
   out, the on-board receiving antenna may be defective - which from your   
   description may be the case -    
   works only inside the car. There is a You Tube on getting to it and replacing   
   it - looks like a major PITA. Similarly, the module - but the module should   
   be  fine if it works at all.
